Evaluation / Reflection
WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG?
I thought taking part in the production for 'Where did it all wrong' was a good experience as I got to try something different. There were some negatives sides to it as I felt as if we as actors had to take a lot of responsibility for the things the group should have already organised for example we weren't given the right script in the beginning which meant we had to improvise the whole time then the day after we were give another script , which we were told to follow therefore it was kind of complicated changing around what we had to say each time. I also felt as if there were too many changes made each time and I felt as if what I was doing wasn't appreciated by certain team members of that team which made it harder to go along with it and listen to each and everything they wanted me to do. However , it was also a positive experience because I thought it was good to have that experience out of the control room as well as I felt a lot more active trying out something I haven't done before. Most of the team members for that team were helpful and encouraging as well as being patient and calm about what I was doing as they knew it was my first time so they gave me the time to settle into that character but It would've been better if everyone on that team pushed each one of us like that as there would've been less problems during the process of it. I also felt like the language some people used during this wasn't appropriate because the way they acted put a lot of team members down which caused other problems therefore it was complicated to get things done on time.
IN IT TO WIN IT
The game show taught me a lot of new techniques and skills as I got to try out different roles through out the process of it for example even though I was given the role of a Vision Mixer , there were times where I filled in doing sound , teleprompter and even helping the director with changing things around as well as the camera people. I really enjoyed the game show because I felt like I was able to complete my role and responsibilities properly. Furthermore , there was some trouble during it as there were confusions on when they had to do each bit or how the game show actually worked , but after going through the rules of it properly I felt like it started to flow a lot better even though the process did take some time to get everyone to do what they were meant to do. I think the main problem was that someone were focusing more on what they had to than others as not everyone was listening to what they had to do properly which caused a lot of communication problems but as a team I think we all worked really well without any arguments or problems that affected anyone individually.
PRE - PRODUCTION
I think the pre production was slightly complicated in the beginning because the director was still a bit unsure about how the game show was meant to run as well as the rules and ideas that had to be used so this did affect the time it took us to get the pre production completed. Moreover , it was hard to get all the pre production together because not everyone was in the lesson when we wanted them to be which meant we had to change things around without the director which did cause problems later on as everyone started getting confused of what was going on and when each thing was going to take place. I did get my pre production done on time even though i had to keep chaining it and handing it back in over and over again but other than that there wasn't many problems from my side or most of our sides which did help us in a positive way.
MY ROLE
I did take on my roles during this project well as i was in all the lesson and i didn't arrive late which means that i did take on my responsibilities really well. I also feel like i contributed to it well , as well as taking on various other roles through out which helped me understand the way other roles work as well as the different contributions and responsibilities i have to take on as i work on each thing for example i was given the role of a vision mixer which taught me how to cut between cameras as well as adding transitions and working out what shot would look better when. I also tried out sound when the person that wasn't meant to do it didn't come in on time during this role i learnt how to fade music , work out the right amount of volume as well as what channel had what mic connected to it. I also took on the role of a teleprompter where i had to change the original script around so that it was easier for the host to read it out as well as typing it all up. I also helped the director work out certain procedures for example when the idea of the questions and the board wasn't working properly as well as when the shots that were decided didn't look as good when it came to filming. My weakness was getting put down by some people quickly as well as getting really stressed when i had to take on many roles at once. My strengths were taking part in as much as i can , filling in other peoples roles as well as working with people getting too annoyed or angry because of all the stress. If i had one thing to improve on i think it would definitely be to organise things better or to help the director to sit the group down and discuss things properly.
